Crypto for everyone: Criptan

I’ve learned that the best things come from connections you make along the way. Working at Voicemod wasn’t just awesome for the project itself – I met some seriously brilliant, tech-loving people. One of them was Paul. We instantly clicked over our shared vision on how the intersection of technology and good design could shape the future, especially with Blockchain and AI. 🤓

We were both way into crypto early on, buzzing about its potential but also seeing the massive hurdle: it was just… complicated. Like, trying to explain DeFi to your grandma complicated. We knew for crypto to really take off, it needed to shed the intimidating jargon and confusing UX.

So, imagine how stoked I was when Paul hit me up about his new venture: Criptan. A neo-bank with a super clear mission – make investing in crypto as easy as using your regular banking app. He wanted me to bring that same energy and skill set I used building community and hype at Voicemod to this new space. Building a Community from Scratch

I stepped in as Head of Community, which sounds fancy, but really it meant rolling up my sleeves and figuring out: how do we build trust, excitement, and genuine connection around a brand in the often-intimidating crypto world? It was a big responsibility, knowing the community would be the heart and soul of Criptan’s growth. The plan was to build on what worked at Voicemod – authenticity, engagement, good content – but tailor it for this new audience.

📈 The Game Plan 🗺️

First things first: strategy. I mapped out a growth plan for the app and community, setting clear goals for the first year and a half. We needed to not just push the app, but establish Criptan as a go-to, trusted resource for anyone curious about crypto but put off by the complexity. No gatekeeping, just clear info and support.

Where the Magic Happened: Content & Connection

We focused our energy on creating spaces and content that actually helped people, not just sold to them. Our main channels became hubs for learning and conversation:

  • Edu-Content (YouTube & Blog): Tackling the tech head-on! We created easy-to-digest videos and articles breaking down blockchain basics, explaining why this stuff matters, without the PhD-level jargon. Think “Crypto 101” but actually engaging.
  • Crypto News Corner: Kept the community in the loop with relevant, curated crypto news – cutting through the noise to share what actually impacts everyday users.
  • The Podcast 🎙️: This was super fun! We launched a podcast inviting guests from all walks of life – experts, skeptics, artists, you name it – to just chat about crypto. Real conversations, different perspectives. Loved connecting with people this way.
  • App Promos (Of Course!): And yeah, we made cool promotional videos showcasing the app’s features, always focusing on the simplicity and ease-of-use.

🚀 Launching the Criptan Card! 💳

This was a massive moment for us! We were pushing to be the first in Spain with a Visa card that let you seamlessly spend your crypto like regular money. Just tap and go – crypto converted instantly behind the scenes. My job was to make sure everyone knew how awesome this was. I dove headfirst into designing all the launch marketing visuals and, the main event, producing the big promotional video that would introduce the card to the world. Getting to craft the visuals and story for such a game-changing feature? Super rewarding stuff.

On top of the community work, I even got to flex some design muscles again, creating UI elements like the app’s loader animation. It’s always satisfying to contribute across different areas!

Crypto for everyone

Working on Criptan was awesome because the mission felt genuinely important. Demystifying crypto, helping regular folks feel confident enough to dip their toes in – that’s rewarding stuff. It combined my love for cutting-edge tech with the challenge of clear communication and community building. A truly formative experience!
